The Counter

is a software designed for people who need to analyze (immuno-)histochemically stained tissue sections. The features are in particular:

supports many common image file formats such as tiff jpeg bmp gif png exif and more
ability to zoom in and out, and also to fit image to viewport
possibility to set a custom unit (such as micron) instead of the default pixels
all custom settings are stored when you leave and restored when starting the program again
support for a virtually unlimited number of regions of interest
particle counting with up to six different particle classes by simply pointing and clicking the desired objects and possibility to simple remove them again by right clicking; particles are counted for the whole image and the different regions of interest
measurement of custom free form areas and calculation their area,perimeter and the mean, standard deviation and median of their RGB color values
calculation of mean, standard deviation and median of custom size rectangle and ellipse shapes
all counting and measurement results can be saved to a text file and as bmp image
ability to process batches of images

Being coded in C# using the M*cr*s*ft .NET Framework TheCounter is for now only available for the W*nd*ws operating system.
Anyway with the progress of the Mono Platform it will be ported to Linux in the future.
